Hey man, I just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work and keep going! We all really appreciate the time and effort you put into the channel.
This is my formal EDC for when I’m forced to wear a suit or I’m going out somewhere nice.
I was always told a man should always carry a knife, so I go with something classic and under the radar with the A. Wright and Sons Spearpoint. It does all the tasks you need it to when in a formal setting, like cutting a loose thread. Let’s face it, you always need a knife.
I smoke the occasional cigar so I carry a lighter when I go out somewhere nice. The Ronson is nice, small, and classic and just something different compared to a Zippo — even though I use zippo fluid and wicks in it. I just prefer a cigar punch to a cutter. I picked this up probably when I was 18 and have used it on nearly every cigar I have smoked since then.
The wallet holds my cards and cash. Since it has the removable money clip, I sometimes just take the clip with some cash and my ID/one card out as to not bulk up my suit. It’s one of the features that I love about it.
If you’re wearing a suit, you should have two hanks — one in your top pocket to hand to a lady if needed and one in your back pocket for yourself (yeah, smooth, I know). The Thomas Pinks Pocket Square is a bit flashy but it looks great on a suit and is generally what I hand someone if they need a hank. The FrozenNorthClothWorks hank goes in my back pocket and is used for everything else. It has to be the one constant item in my EDC and I think the most important.
The crucifix is what my sister bought me on her trip to the Vatican. I’m Christian, so besides the religious significance, it also has that bit of sentimental value.
I’ve always worn a ring and this is the last one I had made back when I was in my first year of uni. It’s been with me ever since and I’ve worn it every day for the past 14 years. The cuff links are there for the cuffs on my shirt. They are also a bit flashy but they have become a talking point on occasion.
Generally, I carry a hip flask when I have a jacket to put it in. I love leather and tweed and thought this one just looked unique. It’s usually got moonshine, Bulleit, or Blanton’s in it.
The beard comb is there to tame the beard. That’s pretty much it.
The Omega is the only ‘dress’ watch I own so I try to keep it for special occasions or formal events. I’m a complete watch geek and love mechanical watches and the blue dial on this is what I fell in love with.
